Parole & Reentry Support

As many of the incarcerated queer and trans people we work with are estranged from their families, they often have little support when released. We work to connect our members with existing resources as well as offer our own small forms of support to ease the transition.

Mutual Aid

Awesome mutual-aid projects are springing up all around California, but they’re often hard to locate. We’re connecting our members with them whenever possible, though we also put people in touch with more traditional nonprofit structures of support when called for. Services must always be welcoming to queer and trans people!

Parole-Support Letters

We regularly write letters to the Board of Parole Hearings in Sacramento attesting to our incarcerated members’ outstanding qualities that merit their immediate release (while also still working towards a world where no one is behind bars to begin with).

Resource Info

We want to offer information packets on several different topics for people who come out. Many organizations have information packets ready for those coming out of prison, which we want to collect into one place so that our newly released members do not have to do that search. Our aim is for these resources to be queer/trans-specific when possible.

Future Goals

We want to support our inside members in more tangible ways, but need more help (and money) to reach those goals. We’d love to be able to help folks gain supportive housing, cover their grocery expenses for a few months, or assist them in finding work or securing financial assistance.
